One by one they woke to find
snow falling from the sky
their eyes so wide with pure delight
those tiny feet took flight

pulled on coats and boots
fuzzy hats too
in warm colored wool
today there’s no school

One by one they slam their doors
and run out to explore
this wonderland that came by night
was just dead grass before

the littlest one
caught some on her tongue
they held hands and spun
warmed by the winter sun

One by one they march in line
straight up the snowy hill
with rosy cheeks they sled with glee
not one will feel a chill

a sliver of moon
will be here soon
inside tucked in tight
snow babies sleep well tonight
