Inspired by, of all the things, The Shin's "Pressed in a Book". I wanted something with the same quarter note feel and soaring melody. Whether or not I succeeded in that endeavor I'm not sure, but this song is the result.
lyrics
damn flowers never grow, reaching for the light
struggle to survive and in the end choked out
spill your guts
then open up your cup
and let the rain fall
let the rain fall in
drink your fill
then come what will
let the growing season
begin, let the season begin
damn flowers never grow, reaching for the light
struggle to survive and in the choked out
save a prayer
you know you never cared
for moderation
it's all about temptation
the choir sings an extra hymn
you hope their tune will get you in
oh-oh-oh salvation
damn flowers never grow, reaching for the light
struggle to survive and in the end choked out
